Dear Girlfriends,

Fashion, “Girls Night Out” and Theatre, Making Social Connections its the “in” thing to do!

Making connections online and offline can be beneficial when used the right way.  From a  concert ticket with the girls to a dinner certificate for a night out on the town, making social connections is the “WOW”.

Great news for girlfriends, friends and fashionistas alike.  American Express launched Membership Rewards 20 years ago as a first of its kind program that overtime has continued to innovate through new partners, categories and features. Membership Rewards are more than just points, it’s a social currency that connects Cardmembers to the people, experiences and things they love.

Traveling Anyone?

Social currency in a nutshell is shared information that encourages further social encounters. It’s not a new concept, but the social web increases its prevalence. For example, building and maintaining relationships is the social reward. This “social reward” economy assist programs like Membership Rewards in building the brand among all platforms beneficial to you.

Whether it be through loyalty points, reward programs or a combination of the two, having social currency nowadays ensures you will always be connected to the brand and relationships that you want.

Dinner Out?

From travel, dining, entertainment and charity giving American Express is at the pulse of social currency.  Girlfriends, essentially social currency acts as an “icebreaker” and is fuel for conversation.

  • Ready for a vacation or just a trip overseas? Use Pay with Points to fly any airline at any time without fear of blackout dates, or use points towards hotels, cruises and vacation packages.
  • Want a “Girls Night Out” on Friday night? Simply use points for a wide range of dining and entertainment experiences, including concerts, sporting events, theater, and even online gaming.
  • Did you see that new Tory Burch handbag in the window?  Use points to get items or gift cards at some of your favorite stores and online retailers.
  • Not quite sure what to do or how?  Have a heart to give? Use points to give back to any of over a million worthy charities.

Toast the Night

No matter the platform of how we “spend offline and online” what we do and say in social networks equates to “social capital”.  Girlfriends, the time has come to be mindful of the value we create in networks such as Facebook and Twitter, for ourselves.

Socially, what we share, what we say, the smallest of actions from “likes” to retweets to the simplest of updates form a digital representation of what we are!

Until the next style adventure ~ stay connected!

Dear Girlfriends,

Don’t just get your winter wardrobe in gear, glam up your nails!  Serena Williams, tennis player and fashion icon, has teamed up with Suzi of OPI to create a duo of new shades.

Serena says, “Everyone knows that I’ve always loved fashion and design, but they might not know that I’m manic about my nails.  That’s why I’m super excited to partner with OPI to create my Glam Slam Collection.  And on top of that, I am well on my way to receiving my nail technician license.  Working with OPI is really a dream come true.”

Help! Can I wear white jeans now? Fashion myth or fashion rule?

Posted on April 9th, 2009 by Monica
under Chic, Dresses, Fashion shopping, Skinny jeans, Style tip, Styling.

A girlfriend called me this evening asking if she can wear her white jeans to work tomorrow for casual Fridays? First, can’t believe she is getting her clothes out the night before (isn’t that what tomorrow morning is far – smile).  And I thought to myself, ‘you don’t have to be a bride in order to wear white’.  Actually, just a hip gal wearing what’s trendy this spring.

I told her that wearing white at the start of Spring is perfectly fine.  White really is just everywhere, and everyone is going to wear it.  There’s a way to wear it for every person, regardless of how much money you want to spend, your body type and your style. There are so many ways to incorporate it into your wardrobe.

Even consider the 5-pocket Cheap Monday jeans in soft denim with spandex for movement. Or a classic Seven style just right for warmer temps. Ultra-skinny stretch jeans in a clean white rinse are styled with tonally embroidered back pockets for a clean finish.

So whether it’s a white eyelet sundress with white patent leather platform shoes, an all-white suit with a white belt or a pair of white pants and a white button-down, pale garments are all the rage.

I know fashionistas a lot of people really shy away from white.  I know some of us have our fashion myths and rules – its time to debunk the rules. Don’t be scared … it’s not scary anymore.  Wearing white is chic and fresh.  And it’s not just pure, bright white that’s making a splash. White’s cousins, including cream, off-white and ivory, are having a heyday, too.

Sound a little too blinding or just plain boring to you? No worries – I want you to  spruce up the white with a little something-something from the opposite end of the spectrum — as in black or color!  Wait … but fashion isn’t all black-and-white now that the weather is getting warmer. There are some actual colors that are in for Spring, like sunset orange, mint green, royal blue and pink, to name a few.

I’m just getting off the phone with her and I told her to make tomorrow one of those sultry days - go for it wear white jeans, colored top and wedge sandals!

Until the next style adventure,

Monica
