Sequins go casual! How to wear dressed-down sequins?

Dear Girlfriends ~

I was getting ready for an evening out with a few couples this weekend and wanted to wear a pencil dark-wash denim skirt by Citizens of Humanity but kept looking through my color-coordinated closet for a “fab” top!

I couldn’t find anything until I went to my “dressy” section and found a casual sequin top that outfitted perfectly with the skirt, stepped into my pumps, grabbed my vintage olive green clutch and hubby and I were out the door in 10 minutes!

Girlfriends, if you had the same trouble as I do sometimes, I can tell you know how to wear dressed-down sequins.

Casual sequins? Not a contradiction in terms.  The key to pulling off this look is contrast.  Pair a sequined piece with a simple tee or shredded denim for the ultimate in effortless glamour.

Here are ways to get the look ~

A style for our inner dancing queen by T-Bags.  Metallic-pinstriped voile top with V neck and T back. Sequins at shoulders. 2″ straps. Lined at front and semi-sheer at back.

T-Bags Sequin Top

Perfectly paired with dressy bottoms, this Pleated Sequin Top features a pleated mesh fabric, contrast satin halter neck with sequins, back keyhole with button closures, an A-line shape, and an interior lining.

From Free People a fitted mesh tunic with all over sequin embellishment. Low scoop back line and ribbon adjustable straps and great for layering.

Glittering sequins trace the billowy woven front of a stunning halter top with an adjustable drawstring waist.

From Diabless, a  short-sleeved cotton shirt with sexy sequin stripes in navy .  Featurin a fitted-look, crew neck and 100% cotton.

How about this top with skinny Joe’s Jeans?  This brown printed cotton knit tank with racerback shimmers with allover sequin treatment by XOXO.

Also from Free People, this stunning sequined kaftan with flutter sleeves. Elastic banded waist and keyhole on the back.

After considering a few of these style looks – pull out  your skirts and jeans and pair with a sequin tank.  You have a lot to look forward to in your next casual/fab outing – stay sequined!

Until the next style adventure,

Fashionista Flea Market ends the season with a BANG!

under Affordable, Fashionista, Flea market, Thrift store, Urbanista style tip.

Our fall Fashionista Flea Market was amazing! We started the day a feeling the crisp Fall weather, but the conversations, the laughts, the spirit and the fun warmed things up! We welcomed back a few fashionistas, like our “on-point” beauty sistah Pauline of the Wellness Touch), Makia Chic e-Boutique and Shanel, our travel diva Living la Diva Loca and added a few new fashionistas – Kay, Ife, Omi and Dionne. While you’re at it also check out these handmade amazing handbags made by The Bag Lady . And of course our “hostess with the mostess” Kwamme welcomed us! What a great time we all had!

Ok ok, so you want to know what the flea markets are all about? The fashionistas come together with “gently used” finds from our closets and new items for our boutiques, and sell items at affordable and fashionable prices. Let me tell you; you need to be at the next one! The Fashionista Flea Markets are typically held once a month; March through September and its a way for us to get rid of some things from our closets – of course to make room for more! But seriously, its a way to sell and bring some happiness to someone else’s closet. Our flea market was full of vendors from Tania (Genesis, mobile nail spa) to Melfi Fly Betty Boutique , and Mary of Silpada jewelry fame! We were so happy to see Angie, our fierce makeup artist Natural Enhancements . Oh yeah don’t forget to check out me too … Urban Charm . Check out all of these amazing fashionistas online and at our next Fashionista Flea Market! Please stay tuned!

So MANY details, so LESS time! This spring think about the details. Pair a funky pair of pumps with skinny jeans, a leather clutch paired with a chic blouse or a fabulous handbag. Every girl needs to think about the details!!!

Ready for Spring?

Ladies ~

I know its snowing out here in Washington, D.C. on a Wednesday evening, but before you know it – it’ll be SPRING!

Start to think about a trench coat for the Spring!!!! From a short-puffed sleeve trench coat, a double-breasted trench coat with button details to a classic and chic trench coat, you must have one this spring.

Think “TRENCH” this spring ~ The classic trench takes a decidedly feminine turn!!!

Until the next time,
