Dear Girlfriends ~

I was getting ready for an evening out with a few couples this weekend and wanted to wear a pencil dark-wash denim skirt by Citizens of Humanity but kept looking through my color-coordinated closet for a “fab” top! 

I couldn’t find anything until I went to my “dressy” section and found a casual sequin top that outfitted perfectly with the skirt, stepped into my pumps, grabbed my vintage olive green clutch and hubby and I were out the door in 10 minutes!

Girlfriends, if you had the same trouble as I do sometimes, I can tell you know how to wear dressed-down sequins.

Casual sequins? Not a contradiction in terms.  The key to pulling off this look is contrast.  Pair a sequined piece with a simple tee or shredded denim for the ultimate in effortless glamour.

Here are ways to get the look ~

A girlfriend called me this evening asking if she can wear her white jeans to work tomorrow for casual Fridays? First, can’t believe she is getting her clothes out the night before (isn’t that what tomorrow morning is far – smile).  And I thought to myself, ‘you don’t have to be a bride in order to wear white’.  Actually, just a hip gal wearing what’s trendy this spring.

I told her that wearing white at the start of Spring is perfectly fine.  White really is just everywhere, and everyone is going to wear it.  There’s a way to wear it for every person, regardless of how much money you want to spend, your body type and your style. There are so many ways to incorporate it into your wardrobe.

I know fashionistas a lot of people really shy away from white.  I know some of us have our fashion myths and rules – its time to debunk the rules. Don’t be scared … it’s not scary anymore.  Wearing white is chic and fresh.  And it’s not just pure, bright white that’s making a splash. White’s cousins, including cream, off-white and ivory, are having a heyday, too.

Sound a little too blinding or just plain boring to you? No worries – I want you to  spruce up the white with a little something-something from the opposite end of the spectrum — as in black or color!  Wait … but fashion isn’t all black-and-white now that the weather is getting warmer. There are some actual colors that are in for Spring, like sunset orange, mint green, royal blue and pink, to name a few.

I’m just getting off the phone with her and I told her to make tomorrow one of those sultry days - go for it wear white jeans, colored top and wedge sandals!

So I’m thinking after I discover denim worthy of a diva! (Don’t forget to select chic, sleek jeans that fit you like a second skin). Okay, okay so what am I going to wear on top – definitely not going naked! I decide to pair with a fabulous tunic top Nordstrom’s and; I’m thinking any style would do Monica as long as its chic! Then what about my footsies? I rummage through my closet and decide to top off this outfit with cute booties ; I know that I am ready while still remaining chic and comfortable. And don’t forget to add your favorite vintage clutch bag; you can even find one online from Goodwill ; yes that’s right! Fashionistas don’t forget that finding key pieces for a chic look, please look at thrift stores – as you’ll never know what you will find!
